Sharing our Garden Knowledge with the Future Generation
from Jami Holden
Marietta Daisies

Jami Holden, one of the Marietta Daisies, went out to a Girl Scout troop co-leader‘s house, and I taught them about all the things that were in this garden and educated them on all the different plants.
This wonderful Haven was created by the father, who had put an amazing amount of work into clearing out this woodland area, making trails, planting all kinds of trees, pollinators, a bridge and paths that are labeled down to the creek.
She had them plant sunflower seeds, so they can take care of them and watch them grow.
They also got to plant seeds in a compostable pot to take home.
It was so rewarding to watch these young ladies love this activity and soak up all the information and ask tons of questions!
*What Jami did find out at the end of the meeting was that the father that created this garden passed away this past January from the flu! The co-leader, the wife of the man who created this, knows nothing about gardening. Jami was hoping to try to help her get connections to find help on how to maintain this garden for her and her daughter as they live in Cherokee County.
Jami would just like to share the story and see if there’s anything that the gardening community can do to help her.
I shared with some other clubs in this area.
If any of you have a connection please do the same.
Thank you
