PARK ON POLK

Marietta Daisies Garden Club members restoration and maintenance of the MFUMC Park on Polk’s Woodland Garden.

The Park on Polk is located on the property of First United Methodist Church of Marietta, 56 Whitlock Ave, Marietta, GA 30064.

● Restore the Woodland Garden at the Park on Polk Gardens back to its former pristine state and maintain the garden for the enjoyment of park visitors in the community of Marietta.

BUTTERFLY GARDEN

The first phase of our project has been a wonderful success in its first year, thanks to the support of Daisies Friendship Plants, paver contributions, and two generous benefactors.

This spring we will begin the hardscape portion of the project, along with a focus on evergreen and winter-flowering plantings to bring year-round interest to the garden. We also plan to expand our pollinator plantings with additions such as butterfly bush, lantana, echinacea (coneflower), crocosmia, and other pollinator-friendly favorites.

SERENITY GARDEN with STUMP GARDEN

Second location inside the garden is a small hike just behind the cabin, one of the oldest trees in Marietta left an enormous stump footprint.

The "Stump Garden" is planned for this area. Adjoining is the "Serenity Garden" which will be enhanced by planting some perennials and sprucing it up. 

 

Once all is planted we’ll set up a maintenance schedule for watering, deadheading, fertilizing, etc. General sprucing up as in raking, picking up dead branches, mulching and fertilizing.
