Blue Star Memorial Marker -

The Carter Center

I have exciting news to share!!  

Today, The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. was given official approval from The Carter Center in Atlanta for the installation of a Blue Star Memorial Marker on the property of the Center and the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library. Thanks to their approval and the support of all of you and our Districts, this marker will be the first Blue Star Memorial Marker installation at a presidential library in the entire country.

The Center is delighted to have this and I (Jan) will be working with them on placement locations and ceremony details. If all goes well, we plan to have the dedication in April 2026. It is anticipated that an order will be placed by the end of November, so that we will receive the marker and be ready for the spring dedication.

This has been a 11/2  to 2 year effort that started during Lisa’s term. Perseverance and getting contact information for the right people finally paid off. I anticipate this to be a grand event honoring our 39th President of the United States and hope that you will make plans to join us for this very special occasion. We will be communicating with you all when we have a better idea of installation and the dedication timing.
