Marietta Daisies Garden Club
"Fair Oaks" Fall Family Fun Day 2026
Rain or Shine!

A little rain certainly didn’t stop the fun
at this year’s
Fair Oaks Fall Family Fun Day!
With plenty of rain in the forecast, most of the festivities were moved indoors, while the much-anticipated petting zoo remained outside under a tent. Despite the weather, families came out to enjoy the day, and the event was once again warmly received by the community.
The Marietta Council of Garden Clubs and the Board of Trustee did a wonderful job bringing together this year’s celebration. Combining a traditional fall festival with the 250th anniversary of our country made the occasion especially memorable.
Members dressed in colonial attire and introduced children to games, crafts, foods, and activities inspired by early American life.
Children had the opportunity to try their hand at colonial games and even make their
own butter!

Another delightful educational highlight was a Birds of Prey presentation, with special attention given to our national bird, the Bald Eagle. The engaging program gave children and adults alike an opportunity to learn more about these magnificent birds, their importance in nature, and the special place the Bald Eagle holds as a symbol of our nation. It was a wonderful addition to the day’s celebration of nature, education, and America’s 250th anniversary.
One of the hands-on highlights was the planting activity presented by the
Four Seasons Garden Club of Marietta.

Children learned how to plant their own sprouts and proudly carried their creations away. It was especially rewarding to overhear excited children explaining the planting process to their parents as they headed off to visit the petting zoo! The beautiful clay pots used for the project were handmade and generously provided by Four Seasons President Sheila Plunkett, adding an extra-special personal touch to the activity.
The Jonquil Garden Club brought history to life with a display of colonial toys along with hands-on butter making, gingerbread, and apple cider.
Throughout the event, each participating garden club contributed its own creativity and volunteer spirit:

A heartfelt thank you goes to all of the participating garden clubs and volunteers who shared their time, talents, creativity, and enthusiasm.
Rain may have changed the location of some of the festivities, but it certainly didn’t dampen the spirit of the day.
It was a wonderful celebration of family, fall, gardening, history, nature, and community and another reminder of just how much can happen when our garden clubs come together!
