Oak Hill Home and Gardens

The Oak Hill home is a Greek Revival mansion built in the 1880s. It was the childhood home of Martha Berry, founder of Berry College, and later became her adult residence. Martha Berry gifted Oak Hill to the schools and the home remains as she left it in the 1930s.

The gardens were added in the 1930s as part of Martha Berry’s renovation of the estate. Landscape architect Robert Cridland designed a collection of gardens and trails that range from our intimate “Goldfish Garden” to the grand “Sunken Garden.” You can access these gardens with grounds-only ticket option or as part of an Oak Hill house tour.

The Martha Berry Museum

The Martha Berry Museum opened in 1972 on the Oak Hill Estate as a complement to the home and as a place to further tell the story of the Berry Schools. The museum has multiple galleries exhibiting the Permanent Collection and Special Exhibitions.
